An inmate attacked two correctional officers at Trumbull Correctional Institution on Friday, March 14.

Both officers were treated at a nearby hospital. One was released, and the other remained at the hospital in stable condition.

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction told 21 News that the inmate was promptly transferred to Ohio State Penitentiary in Youngstown, a supermax security prison as opposed to Trumbull's medium security.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is looking into the incident in an investigation.

The department let 21 News know about a new pilot program using TASER 10s at Trumbull Correctional Institution along with Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe with Ross' pilot beginning in May.
