Kennedy Catholic's historic run ends in quarterfinal
A historic run came to an end for the Kennedy Catholic girl's basketball team.
The Eagles fell to Bishop McCort, 47-43, in the PIAA Class 2A Quarterfinal Friday at Armstrong High School.
"This is going to really hurt, it hurts right now, there were a lot of tears in that locker room and it's going to be a hard one to swallow," said Justin Magestro, Kennedy Catholic basketball coach.
Kennedy graduates five seniors, including Layke Fields, who led the way with 25 points in the loss.
"Hopefully the younger girls will follow in the footsteps of the leadership of those five seniors that have given everything they can and then some for the last four years," said Magestro.
The senior class racked up an overall record of 96-17 over the last four years and captured back-to-back state championships in 2023 and 2024.
