Longtime Lordstown police officer dies, also ran BBQ Bash catering

The Lordstown Police Department announced the death of a long-serving officer on social media Friday.
Theodore 'Ted' Drewek, 58, was an officer with the Lordstown Police Department for 31 years and died of complications from a heart attack last fall, according to the Police Chief.
Before joining Lordstown, Drewek worked for the North Jackson Police Department for nine years.
Drewek was a veteran of the U.S. Army Military Police Corps, including the Ohio National Guard and the 324th Military Police Co, the 437th MP Batallion, and the 800th MP Brigade. He also served in Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War from 1990 to 1991.
Drewek also worked as the Lordstown Athletic Director for the Lordstown School District from 2014 through 2016.
"We thank Officer Drewek for his years of service to our community and to our country. Please join us in praying for his family and friends during this difficult time. Unit #1236 rest in peace," the Facebook post reads.
Lordstown Police Chief Brent Milhoan told 21 News, "Ted had a servant's heart for his community." Milhoan said that he and Drewek went to the Police Academy together and had known each other before working together in Lordstown.
Chief Milhoan said Drewek enjoyed cooking and delivering food to people around the community during the holidays. He also said Drewek liked to help the people of his community, whether it was helping someone who had a broken-down vehicle or had run out of gas. The chief said his giving way is something he will never forget about his co-worker.
Drewek also ran a private catering barbecue business, BBQ Bash.
Funeral services are pending at this time.
