Applications are now open for hunters to apply for spring 2025 wild turkey hunts in Ohio.

Spring youth wild turkey hunts are held at various locations throughout Ohio including Mosquito Creek in Trumbull County. Hunting dates vary depending on sites and the length of specific permits.

For more information about Mosquito Creek permits, you can call Ron Ferenchak 234-308-2607

Those interested in applying can do so online via the Ohio Wildlife Licensing System or through the Hunt Fish OH mobile app. You can also apply over the phone by contacting 1-866-703-1928.

A non-refundable fee of $3 is charged for each application and an additional service fee of $5.50 is charged for applications made over the phone.

All hunters are required to have a valid Ohio hunting license and wild turkey permit prior to applying. Applicants for the youth hunts must be 17 years old or younger and accompanied by a non-hunting adult.

New hunters are eligible for the controlled hunts if they have not harvested a wild turkey within the last five years. Learners and mentors are both eligible to harvest a turkey during mentor-style hunts if the learner harvests their bird first.

Either the learning hunter or mentor can apply, but both need their permits during the hunt.

Applicants will be selected through a random computer-based lottery system. The deadline to apply is March 31. Following that deadline, applicants will receive an email notifying them of the results of the lottery.

In the award status column, if your permit is listed as successful, that means you've been selected to participate.
