Some people in the Valley are likely catching up on their sleep Friday morning after staying up overnight to see the so-called “Blood Moon.”

Skywatchers had clear skies to view the lunar eclipse around 2 a.m.

As the earth’s shadow passed over, the moon glowed red-orange.

Some people set up telescopes to view the celestial event, including a group at Youngstown State University.

Others snapped pictures with their mobile phones.

Several people shared photos with 21 News showing the beginning of the eclipse and the moon as it was covered in shadow.
