Youngstown woman being sentenced Thursday for deadly DUI crash

A Youngstown woman faces sentencing later on Thursday for a fatal crash in which she drove an SUV while intoxicated at more than three times the legal limit.
Kyashia Madison, 29, pleaded guilty earlier to six of the eleven charges filed against her following the August 16, 2023, crash that killed a 19-year-old woman on Youngstown's East Side.
According to police reports, the accident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Victor and Commonwealth Avenues. Madison's blood alcohol level was recorded as .255 when the GMC Yukon SUV she was driving struck the side of a Chevrolet Cobalt.
Denasia Douglas, a backseat passenger in the Cobalt, was transported to the hospital where she later died from her injuries. The police report also indicated that several children and toddlers were in the SUV with Madison. All four juveniles sustained minor injuries.
Madison is scheduled to be sentenced on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, three counts of aggravated vehicular assault, endangering children, and driving under the influence.
