Four children facing charges following incident at Belmont Pines

An incident being considered a riot occurred at Belmont Pines in Liberty involving four children from ages 11 to 15 on Thursday, March 6.
According to the police report, Liberty Police responded to a call at the facility regarding a 15-year-old at the facility assaulting members of the staff with kicks, punches and using their arm cast as a weapon.
Multiple staff members informed police of their injuries caused by the teenager with two saying they received attacks to the chest causing pain and discomfort.
Other agencies reported to the facility to attempt to diffuse the situation such as Ohio Highway State Patrol, Girard Police and Hubbard Police.
Three other young patients at the facility, ages 11, 13 and 14, then began to act in a disorderly manner mounting to what was being deemed a riot incident, according to the report.
Police entered the pods and began to try to restore order in the facility. The report states that more members of the staff were assaulted elsewhere in the facility while police were in the pods.
The police report says that some of the children acting out had bitten the inside of their mouths to draw blood which they spit said blood at the staff members.
All four of the patients were arrested and taken to JJC with the 11-year-old being returned to Belmont Pines due to them being too young.
Following this, the facility had calmed down with no more incidents of the violent sort.
