Youngstown's First Friday to highlight youth arts

Downtown Youngstown's First Friday celebration will kick off Friday, March 7 with a focus on young performers and artists.
The event, coinciding with Youth Art Month, will be held at Students Motivated by the Arts, or SMARTS, at 25 E. Boardman St., from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The free, family-friendly event is a collaboration between SMARTS, the Downtown Youngstown Partnership, Youngstown CityScape, and the City of Youngstown’s Office of Special Events. It will showcase various Youngstown-area organizations.
The evening will feature a series of performances by youth groups, including:
- 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Millennial Theatre Company
- 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Dinner Theatre Rejects
- 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.: MV Cabaret
- 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: SMARTS Rock Band
- 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Ballet Western Reserve
- 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre
A “Sip & Mingle” portion of the event will feature a cash bar and food prepared and sponsored by The Varsity Club, a new downtown sports restaurant.
First Fridays Downtown Youngstown are held on the first Friday of each month at various locations throughout downtown. The events feature live music, shopping, dining, entertainment, arts, activities and recreation.
