A treehouse constructed in Poland Municipal Forest was taken down by the Village, after it was spotted by a passerby.

A woman walking her dog relayed the discovery to the forest board, and subsequently brought up at a recent council meeting.

"Obviously you're not allowed to build structures in Poland Woods so we brought it to the attention of our street department and they took it down yesterday.", said Tim Sicafuse.

The village mayor tells 21 News they aren't sure who's responsible for elevated platform but that due to the detail of the project he doesn't believe that young kids were the culprit.

"If I had to guess probably teenagers, it wasn't young kids based on the complexity but you just never know who did what.", Sicafuse explained.

The decision to take it down--liability concerns.

It's private property so just as much as you wouldn't want someone to build a treehouse in your backyard, we don't want a treehouse built in the woods either. We could be on the hook if someone got hurt.", the Village leader added.

Sicafuse says that any treehouse erected in the forest will face the same fate.
