A football player with Youngstown State University is behind bars after police say he "barged" into an apartment building at the university and assaulted an occupant inside.

According to a police report, police were called to the University Edge apartment just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday, February 22 for a fight in progress.

When police got to the apartment, they spoke with two people inside who told officers they were attacked by someone they did not know who just "barged in" while they were watching a movie.

Police say the two victims asked the man, later identified as 20-year-old Sebastian Espinoza, why he was in their apartment and Espinoza told them it was his apartment and gave them his apartment number.

According to the report, the two tried to show him that the number on their apartment was different than the one he told them, but he continued to insist it was his apartment and asked them to leave.

Police say Espinoza, who was described in the report as a football player "well over 300 pounds and over 6 foot and 7 inches in height" used "hard force" to wrap his hand around an occupant's neck.

Police say the other occupant tried to intervene by wrestling Espinoza off her roommate and pinned him to the ground. Police say this occupant found Espinoza's roommates and asked them for help, but they did not intervene.

According to the report, Espinoza continued to kick at the occupants and eventually punched one of them in the face when he got back up causing the occupants to pin him to the ground again.

It was then that Espinoza's roommates broke up the fight and Espinoza left the apartment according to police.

A warrant was then issued for Espinoza's arrest. Police say he showed up at the YSU Police Department with head coach Doug Phillips on Thursday where he was arrested on two misdemeanor counts of assault and one felony count of aggravated burglary.

According to YSU's website, Espinoza is a sophomore offensive lineman.

Espinoza is set to be arraigned Friday afternoon.
