Shale Tavern & Grille, a restaurant known for its large portions and homestyle atmosphere, will close its doors on Sunday, March 2, after 12 years of operation.

A message posted on Facebook did not reveal a reason for the closing, but expressed gratitude to the community for its support:

“After many wonderful years of serving you, we have made the decision to close Shale Tavern & Grille. We want to take the time to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.”

Located at 40964 State Route 154, just off the Lisbon exit from State Route 11, the restaurant opened in 2012.

Jeff Padurean and his father-in-law, Michal A. Naffah, established the tavern as a dining option for Columbiana County visitors and residents.

The restaurant featured a tavern room, with high-top tables, a fireplace, and a bar adorned with local historical photos, and the grille room, a larger dining area with a stone fireplace and access to an outdoor patio.

The restaurant invited patrons to visit during its final week to enjoy their favorite dishes and share memories.
