A juvenile is seriously injured following a rollover crash that closed a stretch of West South Range Road in Goshen Township for nearly an hour Wednesday morning.

According to a press release, the crash happened just before 7:30 a.m. on SR-165 near SR-534 when a Jeep Compass driven by 52-year-old Sherri Sloan of Salem went off the road and hit a ditch, followed by overturning and striking a tree and overturning again.

Troopers say Sloan was wearing her seatbelt, but the juvenile, who was also in the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt causing the child to be thrown from the vehicle.

The juvenile was flown to the hospital with serious injuries. Meanwhile, Sloan drove herself to the hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers say unsafe speeds, icy road conditions and the vehicle being operated with bald tires appear to be contributing factors to the crash.

It is unclear at this time if Sloan will face any charges in connection with the crash.
