Organizations from both Mahoning and Trumbull Counties came together for a summit on greenspace at the Mill Creek Metroparks Farms on Thursday.

The summit was organized by The Healthy Community Partnership Mahoning Valley (HCP) and encouraged recreation professionals, community partners and elected officials to trade ideas to better than Mahoning Valley.

Some organizations who attended include the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership and the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation (YNDC).

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership Health and Wellness Coordinator Lydia Lynch tells 21 News anyone can get involved in these summits.

"We welcome any resident leaders that want to be a part of this. This is an always changing group that we're always trying to add new members [and] get new perspectives trying to focus on just bringing more attention to our parks and revitalizing our parks," Lynch said.

The summit consisted of several panels on several different topics including starting tree commissions for municipalities, as well as urban forestry.
