A former Poland High School science teacher and Westminster College assistant coach is free on a $50,000 bond after being arrested on a secret indictment charging him with two counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor and 12 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.

Troy Massey, 58, of Boardman, was booked into the Mahoning County Jail Tuesday.

According to the indictment Massey had nude and obscene images of children back in June.

Records from the Ohio Department of Education say Massey surrendered his Ohio educator’s certificate in 2010 while teaching in the Poland Local Schools for engaging in conduct unbecoming a licensed educator by violating appropriate teacher-student boundaries.

Massey was also an assistant track and field coach at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. College officials told 21 News that Massey no longer works for Westminster.

Massey is scheduled to answer the 14 felony charges before a judge next week.
