The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County is launching a community input process to guide enhancements and improvements to its facilities.  A news release from the library states that it wants to ensure its spaces meet the evolving needs of Mahoning County residents.

From Feb. 1 through Feb. 14, community members are invited to visit any of the library’s 14 branches and share their thoughts on feedback boards. The boards will prompt participants to consider how library facilities and services can best serve the community.  Questions will focus on valued library spaces and desired additions, such as expanded children’s and teen areas or outdoor spaces.

“We want to listen to the community to continue to find ways to create spaces that facilitate the love of lifelong reading and literacy, learning, creativity, and make community collaboration possible,” said Aimee Fifarek, Director & CEO of PLYMC. “The facilities master planning process is the way in which we undergo a broad community study and seek input to help shape nearly every major facilities decision we make as a library system.”

The library has recently gathered input from community leaders, patrons, and staff.
