The case of a man accused in a homicide in Youngstown earlier in January is now in the hands of a grand jury.

According to court records, the case of 29-year-old Jonathan Simmons has been bound over to the Mahoning County Court of Common Pleas where a grand jury will decide whether or not there is enough evidence to indict Simmons on the charges against him.

Simmons is charged with one count of murder stemming from the shooting death of 27-year-old Brandon Ogden on Ohio Avenue near Upland Avenue earlier in January.

Simmons was arrested soon after the shooting after he was stopped by the Milton Township Police Department. He remains in the Mahoning County Jail on a hold do not release bond, meaning he cannot be released until his trial.
