VIDEO: Driver escapes pursuing State Troopers in Austintown
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released dashcam video as they look for the driver of a stolen car that sped away from a Trooper on Interstate 80 in Austintown earlier this week.
The chase began Tuesday morning near I-680 just east of Route 46 when a yellow Dodge Charger with a broken passenger-side window and no license plate pulled ahead of the Troopers cruiser.
The Trooper followed the car westward for about five minutes until he eventually lost sight of the car which was going faster than 100 mph.
Troopers tried to pull the Charger over later after spotting it again on the Ohio Turnpike near the I-480 and State Route 14 interchange. The chase ended after once again Troopers lost sight of the car.
The car was found abandoned later by police in Berea. A witness told the officers she saw the driver, but he didn’t stick around.
The car, which had a child seat in the rear passenger compartment, was found to be stolen.
