The Youngstown State University women's basketball team fell to Purdue Fort Wayne, 79-56, Wednesday at Zidian Family Arena.

The Penguins were held to five points in the first quarter and trailed throughout the entire game.

The Mastodons sit at the top of the Horizon League standings with a 17-5 record, 12-0 in conference. They're riding a 14-game winning streak.

Sydney Freeman led Purdue Fort Wayne with 22 points, while Lauren Ross and Jordan Reid both added 16.

For Youngstown State, Jewel Watkins paced the team with 16 and Sophia Gregory chimed in with 12 points and 8 rebounds.

The Penguins drop to 9-13 on the season, 4-8 in conference. They travel to Wisconsin to play Green Bay Thursday, February 6 at 7 p.m.
