$260k in state grants approved for projects in Mercer County
Two state grants totaling over a quarter-million dollars from the Commonwealth Financing Authority have been approved for Mercer County parks and recreation projects.
Pennsylvania Senator Michele Brooks and Representative Parke Wentling announced the approval of these grants on Tuesday.
"I always appreciate working with local municipalities to access funding that provides the ability to expand recreational opportunities for local families and visitors alike," said Brooks.
Sharon City's Riverfront Park Walkway Project will receive $166,970 in grants to turn the Huntington Bank into open park space featuring trails, walkways and benches accompanied by efficient low-energy lighting throughout.
Hermitage will receive $95,000 to install lights of their own for one of their unlit softball fields at the Hermitage Athletic Complex.
"Both projects will be beneficial for everyone and help continue to make the district one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family," said Wentling.
The Riverfront Walkway Project is set to begin construction in the coming months and is scheduled to be completed later in 2025.
