Cardinal Mooney officially introduced Frank Colaprete as its new head football coach

School President Nick Beyer along with players, teachers  and alumni were present for the formal introduction.

Colaprete, a 1992 graduate of Mooney spent the past 12 years as the head coach at the College of Wooster.

"To come back to Youngstown, Ohio, we couldn't be more blessed and happier to come back and raise our family,' said Colaprete.

The Cardinals have struggled over the years. They haven't had a winning season since 2017.

"Extremely motivated. Carl's (Pelini) has done a great job and I want to continue to build on what he's done.  This is why you come here to win championships."

Colaprete adds his names to a list of Mooney coaching legends including Don Bucci, Ron Stoops Sr.,  Denny Barrett and his father Duke, a long time assistant under Bucci.

"I got the chills when you mentioned that. It's humbling, I'm honored and its an amazing legacy to carry on."
