The Columbiana County Auditor’s Office reports that 740 fewer licenses have been sold this year compared to the same time last year, equating to nearly $8,900 in lost revenue.

These funds are critical for the shelter’s day-to-day operations, including food, medical care, and maintenance.

The shelter’s staff expressed concern over the shortfall, saying it could limit their ability to care for and house animals. Columbiana County officials hope for a strong turnout in the remaining days of the licensing period to offset the decline.

Dog licenses are a legal requirement in Ohio and help reunite lost pets with their owners.

The deadline to purchase dog licenses in Columbiana County without penalty is January 31. After that date, late renewals will double in price.

You can purchase a license online, by mail, or at local satellite locations like the Columbiana County Auditor's Office.
