Community Library of the Shenango Valley to host annual Valentine fundraiser
The Community Library of the Shenango Valley board of trustees will be hosting the third annual "Love Your Library" fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 8.
Tickets purchased ahead of time will be discounted for $25 per person while door prices will go up to $40 per person.
"It's such a great chance for people to come together over a love of books and learning while supporting an important community asset," said event Chair and board Vice President Courtney Anderson Saylor.
The "Love Your Library" open house includes activities like making Valentine cards with artist Alane Jewel, creating blackout poetry from book pages, painting watercolor bookmarks, writing "Book-ku" poems with storyteller and educator Vicki Lingner and a visiting area with therapy dogs and their humans.
The Sharon High School Chamber Strings group will serenade the patrons while they enjoy an array of snacks and refreshments provided by local merchants and board members.
This year's prize raffle features a grand prize certificate for one overnight stay at the Tara - A Country Inn and $100 at the Buhl Mansion Spa.
There will also be other prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
Some of the snacks and refreshments include Gifted at Applegate offering their herbal teas, Philadelphia Candies donating sweets and Allie's Sweet Tooth providing food for the evening.
The public library has been a cornerstone of Sharon since it opened 100 years ago. The CLSV trustees, staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to keep services available to people who live in the Shenango Valley.
"In a time when costs are rising and budgets are tight, every donation helps keep our doors open for the whole community," Saylor said.
She continued, "whether you use the library regularly or you never set foot in the door, the knowledge and resources here benefit the entire Shenango Valley."
To buy tickets for the event, they can be purchased here or in person at the library or from an board of trustee member.
Donations can also be made to the library online or by check.
