20 ICE detainees held in Northeast Ohio facility
Twenty people detained by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have are currently being held in a Northeast Ohio facility.
Chief Deputy Tom Rowan with the Geauga County Sheriff's Office told 21 News 20 detainees were picked up and taken to the Geauga County Safety Center between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Rowan said he did not know where these detainees were picked up and no more ICE detainees have been taken to the facility since.
This comes just days after President Trump signed executive orders ordering the deportations of undocumented immigrants and challenging birthright citizenship for children born to illegal immigrants.
Cleveland NBC affiliate WKYC reports that ICE made 286 arrests on Saturday and 956 more on Sunday. WKYC further reports that ICE averaged 311 daily arrests in the fiscal year that ended September 30.
