Ford is recalling certain 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles due to a potential battery failure that could increase the risk of a crash.

The 12-volt battery may experience degradation and suddenly fail, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This could result in a loss of electrical accessories, including the hazard lights, or a loss of drive power.

An estimated 272,817 vehicles are included in the recall.

Ford dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the 12-volt battery, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 3, 2025.
