Lakeview football program safer with generous donation of Guardian caps
The Lakeview football program will be safer this coming fall.
Lou Wollam Chevrolet donated 90 Guardian Caps for junior high to varsity players.
"We're not even a half mile down the road and a lot of our customer base and their kids go here," said Matt Fye, Used Car Manager. "Our current employees kids go here so there's nothing better than giving back where we can see the results."
The soft shelled helmets reduces impact in practice and can be worn in games The caps were mandated by the NFL and more than 500 colleges use them.
"We're going to practice with them and they'll help in reducing head injuries," said first year coach Ron DeJulio Jr.
"Lou Wollam and the Chevy All Stars always look for a cause that's going to benefit the community and this year we decided on the helmets," said dealership Executive Director Steve Prindle.
The Guardian caps are blue and fit over the helmets.
