Not as cold, but winter still persists
After a record cold Wednesday morning, it will not be as harsh on Thursday. Temperatures will rise from the low teens during the morning commute to the mid-20s for the second half of the day.
Skies will turn mostly cloudy as an area of low pressure moves through the region, and a round of flurries will be possible Thursday evening. Snowfall totals will generally be less than one inch, but some slick travel is possible given how cold the roadways currently are.
Flurries will come to an end by Friday morning, with mostly cloudy skies sticking around for the rest of the day. High temperatures on Friday will reach the low 20s before jumping into the upper 20s for the weekend. Saturday will start quiet with another round of flurries arriving late in the day.
A morning flurry cannot be ruled out on Sunday. Temperatures will return to around freezing early next week, with generally quiet weather persisting. That appears to be the trend for much of next week, with a more typical January cold compared to the record-breaking cold we had during the past few days.
