The bitter blast of cold continues
The temperature will not improve in the next 48 hours and will only slightly improve before the end of the week.
Tuesday's high temperatures will be the coldest of the winter and the year, arriving at around ten degrees. During the day, wind chill values will be as low as 15 degrees below zero. Light snow will be possible Tuesday afternoon through the early evening, with a coating to an inch of snow accumulation possible.
Tomorrow is the coldest morning of the season, with record-breaking air temperatures around 11 degrees below zero. This would break Wednesday's daily low-temperature record of 9 degrees below zero from 2002. Wind chills will be dangerous, dropping as low as 25 degrees below zero.
Wednesday will continue to feature wind chills slightly below zero. Temperatures will reach the low teens, and clouds will build back in during the second half of the day.
Thursday and Friday will have slightly improved temperatures in the mid-20s, with light snow possible Thursday night into early Friday.
Snow will also be possible on Sunday, a trend worth watching, but the chances of snow remain very low at the moment.
