CNN: Convicted January 6th participant Rachel Powell expects to attend 'Liberty Ball' if released
President Donald Trump pardoned or commuted the prison sentences of the more than 1,500 people charged with crimes in the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol after beginning his second term Monday.
One of those included in the pardons is Sandy Lake resident Rachel Powell, often referred to as "pink hat lady" or "bullhorn lady."
CNN reporter Donie O'Sullivan said he spoke with Powell from inside the D.C. detention center where she is being held.
According to O'Sullivan, Powell said she hadn't heard anything about being released as of approximately 9:45 p.m. Monday.
In his live report, O'Sullivan said Powell has been in touch with people connected to the Liberty Ball and if she is released from the center, she intends to go directly there.
Powell was convicted of nine charges for her role in the riot including civil disorder, obstruction, destruction of U.S. property, entering a restricted building or property with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct.
21 WFMJ has reached out to Powell, but as of this writing, she remains in the detention center.
