2000: Some 15,000 local employees at General Motors in Lordstown and Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren receive record profit-sharing checks of $1,775.

The Howland Township Board of Zoning Appeals wants more information before approving plans to construct a $3.5 million Christian high school on Howland Springs Road. 

The  Ohio State  Highway Patrol corrects an accident report from November 21 that said Katherine Biroschak, a 19-year-old YSU student, was driving a car that rammed a bridge abutment off Western Reserve Road, killing her and injuring a passenger. The patrol now says that the passenger, her boyfriend, was driving and that he moved her body into the driver's seat. He has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and tampering with evidence. 
 
1985: Julian Suso, executive director of the Youngstown Revitalization Foundation, discussed plans to redevelop the Voyager Motor Inn into a luxury hotel and redevelop the former Erie Terminal Building.

The Tod Parent House, a project of the Youngstown Junior League, provides a home away from home for parents of children being treated at Tod Babies and Children's Hospital in Youngstown. 

A retired steam locomotive has been donated to the Borough of Greenville, Pa., to be displayed at Main Street and College Avenue as a tribute to railroads' role in the city's history. 


1975: Lines flowing into the streets are becoming a regular morning occurrence at the Mahoning County Welfare Department as unemployment, layoffs, and strikes affect an increasing number of county residents. 

Atty. Theodore R. Cubbison files suit for two Youngstown clients seeking to have Ohio Edison Co. enjoined from spending money on advertising or charitable donations. 


1950: Youngstown was selected as one of nine Ohio cities, and forums were held under the auspices of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to enlighten businessmen on the nation's political issues. 

Jasper Ford is fatally stabbed in the Paramount Theater while patrons sit watching the movie, unaware of the deadly drama.  Police are holding the wife of the assailant while searching for him.
