An active Saturday before cold air rushes back in
Saturday will be an active weather day as a storm system moves through the region. Wet snow and rain will be present for much of the day, becoming more scattered after lunchtime. However, snow will not accumulate much, as temperatures will remain above freezing in the mid to upper 30s.
A cold front on the back side of the system will allow for much colder air to rush back into the Valley. High temperatures will only reach the low 20s on Sunday, with lake-effect snow showers becoming likely during the afternoon and evening. An inch or two of snow will be possible in some spots.
Snow flurries will taper off by Monday morning, and the main story will become the frigid cold. High temperatures will only be in the single digits on Monday and Tuesday, with wind chill values as low as 20 below zero. Skies will clear out Tuesday night with low temperatures around negative 10 degrees.
It will warm up a bit by the end of the week, but it will still be quite cold. On Thursday and Friday, high temperatures will return to the mid- to upper 20s, and both days will have partly to mostly sunny skies.
