An issue that caused employees at two recently-purchased Trumbull County hospitals not to receive their paychecks on time on Friday has been corrected.

Several employees with Insight Hospital & Medical Center (formerly known as Trumbull Regional Medical Center) and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital reached out to 21 News letting us know they had not received their pay during the first day Insight was supposed to take over payroll for the two hospitals.

One of those employees, who wished to remain anonymous, sent us a copy of an email they had received blaming an "unintended system error" for the delay in payment for employees.

The email went on to say the company hopes to have this issue fixed by Tuesday, January 21.

A representative from the nurse's union for the hospital tells 21 News this was not a funding issue, but simply a glitch Insight was undergoing.

The hospital's spokesperson told 21 News in an emailed response to employees not receiving a paycheck on Friday:

During the process of transitioning to the Insight Health System corporate wide payroll platform we encountered an unintended system error which unfortunately impacted the payroll for Trumbull and Hillside. This in turn resulted in a delay of some of our payroll. Insight recognizes the critical importance of accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing and is committed to upholding the highest standards. Our team remains fully dedicated to resolving this matter and we are working diligently to get this issue resolved as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the understanding and continued collaboration."

However, as of about 2:40 p.m. Friday, that spokesperson updated 21 News saying that issue has been corrected and employees should see their pay throughout the day depending on their banking institution.

This news comes just months after concerns were raised about Insight's ability to run the hospitals. You can read much more about those concerns in our related coverage below.
