Warren woman accused of driving while drunk with baby in vehicle
A Warren woman is facing charges after police say she was driving while drunk with a baby in the vehicle.
According to a police report, police responded to the GetGo gas station on Mahoning Avenue shortly before 7:30 Wednesday night for a disturbance.
When they got there, officers found two women, identified as 22-year-old Makayla Murray and 26-year-old Bridgett Plant standing outside of a vehicle with a baby inside arguing with another officer as he was trying to talk to them.
Police handcuffed the two women and tried to walk them to a cruiser and noted both seemed to be unsteady on their feet and smelled like alcohol.
Police say Murray told officers she was driving and stopped at the gas station to pick up Plant and that she had "one shot."
After conducting field sobriety tests on Murray, she was arrested and charged with OVI. A charge of endangering children was also filed due to the child being in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Police say the child was handed over to family through Trumbull County Children Services.
In addition to the OVI charge, court records show charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing official business. Plant was also arrested with court records showing her facing those same charges minus OVI.
Both were arraigned on Thursday and are due back in court January 30.
