Assistant County Prosecutor Danielle Menning announced on January 15 that she would be running for Columbiana County Municipal Court Judge.

Menning is a lifelong Columbiana County resident running for judge as a Republican. After graduating from Crestview High School, Menning went on to graduate with honors from Kent State University and the University of Akron's law school.

According to a press release, Menning has over 15 years of cumulative legal experience.

For the past five years, Menning has gained experience with countless criminal cases as Assistant County Prosecutor. Additionally, she has experience in civil litigation and appellate law from working in private practice prior to Assistant County Prosecutor.

According to the release, Menning is pro-life, pro-gun, a member of the Federalist Society and actively supports crisis pregnancy centers in Ohio. She also participates in the Walk for Life.

According to the Federalist Society website, the organization is a group of conservatives and libertarians dedicated to reforming the legal order. It is comprised of 90,000 lawyers, law students, scholars and other individuals that believe "individual citizens can make the best choices for themselves and society."

Crisis pregnancy centers are clinics designed for pregnant women. These facilities have been subject to criticism from organizations like Planned Parenthood and The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists who say the facilities discourage abortion practices and/or use of contraceptives.

"Serving Columbiana County as Assistant County Prosecutor has been an honor, and I'll be proud to continue serving my community as Municipal Court Judge. Columbiana County needs a tough judge who will protect our community and respect the Constitution," said Menning in the release.

Menning will face Kelly Linger in the Republican primary on May 6, 2025.
