The United Way of Lawrence County is looking to collect underwear for kids in need in its "Gutchies for Kids" campaign.

"Gutchies" is western Pennsylvania slang for underwear. The goal of the campaign is to collect underwear donations and distribute them to school districts across Lawrence County.

According to a press release, the need for the campaign continues to grow in the community. Lawrence County is known as an Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) Community.

ALICE families account for 45% of residents in Lawrence County with those families struggling with needs such as rent, utilities and food costs. As such, they may not always be able to afford new clothes.

That's why the Gutchies For Kids campaign is helping out by collecting donations of underwear, socks, pajamas and long underwear in all sizes from size 3 to 3X. The campaign will last until the end of March.

The collected items will then be distributed to all Lawrence County school districts through the Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4.

You can drop off your donations at any of the following locations:

- Connerly's Cleaners

- Challenges Options In Aging

- Berkshire Hathaway Services in New Wilmington

- United Way of Lawrence County
