Mercy Health's St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown was on lockdown Wednesday morning after what the hospital calls a "viable threat."

The communications manager for Bons Secours Mercy Health issued 21 News the following statement over the brief lockdown:

"The safety, security, and well-being of our patients, visitors and employees are our top priority. Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital was temporarily placed on lockdown following a viable threat. The matter was brought to a swift and safe conclusion. The lockdown was lifted shortly after it was enacted."

The lockdown happened shortly after 10 am Wednesday and was lifted around 10:20 am.
