Another round of accumulating snow Thursday
Soak up the sunshine on Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately, temperatures will stay harsh, with highs in the low 20s.
Clouds will build back in Thursday morning, and air temperatures will rise out of the low teens before midnight. However, wind chill values on Thursday morning could drop as low as -5.
Snow is expected to start shortly before daybreak on Thursday and stay widespread into the afternoon and evening. A general accumulation of 1 to 3 inches and slick travel throughout the day are expected.
After a quiet Friday, slushy, wet snow will fall on Saturday as high temperatures sneak just above freezing. An additional inch or two of snow accumulation will be possible, but mainly on non-paved surfaces.
After the weekend, our attention will turn to the coldest air since 2022.
MLK Day will begin with low temperatures in the single digits and high temperatures climbing to the low teens in the afternoon, but wind chill values will be dangerous, ranging from -15 to -10 during the day.
It gets even colder on Tuesday, with air temperatures falling to -6 in the morning and only peaking in the single digits in the afternoon, but wind chill values will range from -20 to -10 during the day.
Wind chill values will remain below zero on Wednesday, but there will be some relief beginning Wednesday afternoon.
Temperatures look to not be as harsh as we make our way out of January and kick off February.
