More snowfall on the way, with a polar plunge to follow
It will be cloudy and cold again on Wednesday. High temperatures will reach the low 20s during the afternoon with a slight chance for a lake effect flurry or snow shower. Skies will briefly clear out Wednesday evening, before clouds quickly build back in overnight.
Our next system arrives early Thursday morning with steady snow beginning just before daybreak. Snow will continue throughout the middle of the day before becoming more scattered Thursday afternoon and evening. Travel will be tricky throughout the day with snowfall totals between 1-3 inches.
Snow showers will taper off by Friday morning, and the work week will end on a quieter note. We will see a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon with temperatures back above freezing in the mid-30s.
Another system will approach the region Friday night into Saturday, bringing a rain and snow mix to the valley to start the weekend. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s once again on Saturday before dropping into the low 20s on Sunday with mostly cloudy skies.
The coldest air of the season is on the way next week. High temperatures will struggle to get out of the single digits on Monday and Tuesday with low temperatures below zero.
