Involuntary manslaughter hearing delayed for former Harding standout athlete
A court hearing scheduled on Tuesday for a former Warren Harding High School standout athlete has been postponed until next month.
The delay was granted at the request of Nysier Coleman, who pleaded “not guilty” earlier to charges of involuntary manslaughter and corrupting another with drugs. The next hearing in Warren Municipal Court is now scheduled for February 6.
Champion Police filed the charges against Coleman in October for the crimes that allegedly took place on March 24, 2024.
According to the police report, the incident happened at a home on the 400 Block of Oak Hollow Drive where police found a 17-year-old girl lying on the bathroom floor with no pulse.
When searching the house further, police found the girl's book bag on a bed with a zip-lock bag containing white pills inside. Tin foil with burn marks was also found indicating drug use.
Police spoke with the girl's boyfriend, who told officers a male had sold her heroin earlier in the night.
Coleman, 20, who graduated from Harding last year, played football for the school and was named as an All-American in basketball.
