Football: Ferrell named Player of the Year by Mahoning Valley Coaches Association
Ursuline's DC Ferrell was named the Mahoning Valley Coaches Association Football Player of the Year.
Ferrell led the Irish to the state semi finals accounting for more than 2,000 yards passing , 1000 yards rushing & 32 combined passing and rushing touchdowns.
"My mindset was I knew I was the smallest guy on the field but I also had a big heart," said Ferrell after receiving the award from Dom Prologo of the MVCA. Ferrell also received a $500 dollar scholarship courtesy of Austintown Financial Services.
Ursuline coach Dan Reardon says he's one of the best around. " A kid like him with the ball in his hands every single play, there's a good chance of something good happening and often times it did," said Reardon.
"He was never too high or low and just performed a high level day after day," concluded Reardon.
This is the second year the MVCA has presented this award.
