The second phase of a fiber optic project is currently underway on Tippecanoe Road between US Route 224 to Leffingwell Road in Boardman and Canfield townships.

Drivers who travel this road may experience travel delays due to work, with the road being reduced to one lane during the daylight hours.

According to the paperwork filed with the Mahoning County Engineer's Officer, the company installing the fiber optic network is Zayo Group, based in Colorado.

According to its website, Zayo Group provides 'light-speed data transmission infrastructure.'

While most of the work is taking place in Canfield Township, Tippecanoe Road is the dividing line between Canfield and Boardman townships.

The work switches to the Boardman Township side of the road, beginning at the property in the 7300 block, then switches to the Canfield Township side of the road and continues onto the previous alignment with the first phase of work.

The first phase of work took place in November on Tippecanoe Road from Leffingwell to Western Reserve Road.

21 News reached out to Zayo for a timeline of the project but has not heard back as of this story's publication.
