The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has announced a $34.3 million funding through the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) to support 218 projects across Pennsylvania including two in Lawrence County.

The funding aims to strengthen distressed areas and help the lives of low-income individuals.

"I am thrilled to see Lawrence County benefit from this critical funding through the Neighborhood Assistance Program," said Representative Marla Brown.

"These grants will help improve public safety and provide essential resources for our youth. I am proud to support initiatives that strengthen our community and ensure brighter futures for all," she continued.

Among the recipients from Lawrence County are two key organizations that benefit from the program.

The Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation is receiving $391,473 to apply a countywide real-time Unified Management System.

This project will enhance law enforcement operations, allowing for faster case processing, better criminal investigations and improved safety for both officers and residents.

Additionally, Sovereign Community Outreach is receiving $9,000 to help expand its services to underprivileged youth. The funding supports renovations to address food insecurity and enable the expansion of youth development programs in the community.
