The Grove City Board of Education has selected Dr. Joshua Weaver to be the district's next superintendent. He will be replacing Dr. Jeffery Finch who has announced his retirement in December.

Dr. Weaver says that he is looking forward to the new challenge and describes his leadership style as "deeply team oriented."

"I've always liked this quote from Henry Ford, 'Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success,'" Dr. Weaver said.

"I believe we accomplish so much more as a team than as an individual. Every person in the organization matters and makes a difference," he continued.

Dr. Weaver has served as the Grove City Assistant Superintendent since May 2016 and has been involved in the public education system for nearly 22 years beginning as a physics teacher.

"Speaking on behalf of the board, this is a great moment in the life of our district," said board member Augie Hurst, chair of the personnel committee.

"It's been great to have Dr. Weaver working in the district the past nine years and elevating him to the position will allow us to provide an institutional knowledge and a continuity of leadership. This also shows the great strength and vision of Dr. Finch working with Dr. Weaver toward this transition," she continued

Weaver, who signed a five-year contract, will begin his commission on July 1.
