Trumbull County Commissioners approve right of way for Bazetta Township sewer expansion
The Trumbull County Board of Commissioners held a special meeting Monday morning to approve the right of way for a sewer expansion project in Bazetta Township.
Commissioners approved the easements necessary to perform work on a sewer expansion project on Perkins Jones Road in Bazetta Township.
This sewer expansion project is part of a larger project known as "Project Penguin," which is a $30 million project to bring a 169,000 square-foot distribution center to the township.
The center would be built in between Mosquito Creek Storage and Oak Meadow Cremation Service.
The project was first announced in May of 2024, with a target completion time of summer of 2025. Groundbreaking was supposed to take place in October of 2024, but this did not happen due to permitting issues.
The Ohio EPA granted the permits for the project in December of 2024. Work was scheduled to begin in January, but it's unclear if that's still the timeline.
Bazetta Township Trustee Mike Hovis tells 21 News he's still waiting to hear from the Ambrose Property Group on the project's current status. Ambrose is the company performing the work on this project.
Hovis says he expects to hear from Ambrose in the next couple of weeks.
