Struthers beginning five-month closure of Wetmore Drive for bridge replacement
A five-month-long road closure is scheduled to begin Monday in Struthers.
City officials have posted a sign announcing that beginning Monday, January 13, Wetmore Drive will be closed for 150 days to permit a bridge replacement.
The bridge along Wetmore Drive over Yellow Creek within Yellow Creek Park is being replaced.
Additional improvements include the partial replacement of an existing stone culvert, approach roadway pavement resurfacing, new concrete walk/new curb installations, storm sewer drainage system improvements, and installation of a new decorative bridge railing.
The official detour for the project will utilize Center Street, Lowellville Road, S. Bridge Street, and Poland Avenue.
Local access will be maintained to all adjacent properties during the project.
Approximately 769 square feet of Yellow Creek Park will be closed to permit construction.
All other access to the Yellow Creek Park will remain open, including the adjacent Yellow Creek Trail and Hopewell Furnace Trail and parking area.
