It seems the entire Mahoning Valley is rallying around a kindergarten student in the Southern Local School District.

6-year-old Bricelynn Garrett was recently diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer. Today, he underwent surgery.

He's expected to endure a number of surgeries along with chemotherapy and radiation.

Once news about Bricelynn spread, school districts from all over, including Brookfield, wore gray today to support Bricelynn.

There was also a facebook post giving information where people could send cards or pictures for Bricelynn. So, first grade students in Mrs. Gerhardstein and Miss Aquino's classes colored pictures for Bricelynn showing off his three favorite things - camping, trucks and Paw Patrol.

A benefit dinner and fundraiser for Bricelynn is being held at the Salem Eagles on Saturday, February 22nd from 4-8 p.m. For presale tickets or donations, contact: Danyell at 330-429-7056, Melissa at 234-575-3338, Luke at 740-412-5167 or Beki at 330-831-5067.

Southern Local is selling gray Bricelynn Strong t-shirts and plans to raise money at their basketball game on January 24th. If you would like to send a letter or picture for Bricelynn to be displayed in the gym, contact the school.
