The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra has announced that conductor Erik Ochsner will take the podium to finish the 2024-2025 season.

Ochsner will conduct three concerts: Beethoven & Beyond on January 19, Shakespeare In Love on February 15, and Symphonic Superheroes on March 2. All performances will be held at Stambaugh Auditorium.

This marks Ochsner's seventh time leading the YSO. In previous seasons, he has conducted movie nights featuring Ghostbusters, Home Alone, and Back to the Future, as well as concerts in March, March, and April of 2023 and 2024.

A graduate of The Pierre Monteux School and Dartmouth College, Ochsner is known for his energetic and meticulous approach to conducting, particularly in the realm of film music.

The season-ending Beethoven & Beyond concert will feature selections from the works of Ludwig van Beethoven and Luigi Cherubini, highlighting the contrasting styles of these two contemporaries. The program includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, the Overture from Cherubini's L'hôtellerie portugaise (The Portuguese Inn), and his Symphony in D Major.

"I am truly excited to perform Beethoven's monumental Symphony No. 3 with the talented musicians of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra," Ochsner said in a statement. "I'm also passionate about introducing new music to audiences and musicians, as we did with last year's Unknown and Gorgeous: River and Iron concert. This will be the first time the YSO performs music by Italian composer Luigi Cherubini, who was Beethoven's favorite living composer."

Tickets for the YSO's remaining concerts are available by calling the box office at 330-259-9651 or visiting youngstownsymphony.com. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Tickets can also be purchased online 24/7.
