Columbiana County among top 10 counties during Ohio muzzleloader deer hunting season
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has released the results of the 2025 muzzleloader deer hunting season with one Mahoning Valley county just making the top 10.
Ohio's muzzleloader hunting season lasted from Saturday, January 4 until Tuesday, January 7. According to a press release from ODNR, hunters in Ohio checked 13,476 white tailed deer this time around.
This is an increase from the 2024 season when hunters checked 12,714 deer. Over the last three years, hunters bagged an average of 13,081 deer in the same timeframe.
Locally, Columbiana County made it into the top 10 counties with the highest totals taking 10th place with 321 deer checked. Meanwhile, hunters in Mahoning County checked 130 deer and hunters in Trumbull County checked 196.
This time around, ODNR's Division of Wildlife issued 428,721 deer hunting permits for the 2024-25 season for resident and non-resident hunters.
