Feds: Murdered dad had told son not to sell drugs from his Youngstown home
A federal grand jury has indicted a Youngstown man whose father was murdered just weeks after agents conducted a drug raid at their home.
According to an indictment handed up this week, 24-year-old Rayshawn Hall faces eight charges including possession with intent to fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine. Hall has been in the county jail since his arrest on November 27.
Hall’s 42-year-old father, Alfred Hall, was fatally shot at his Park Hill Drive home on November 27, 2023.
The shooting came 39 days after agents from the Mahoning Valley Crisis Response Team, the Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force, and the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force conducted a search at Alfred Hall’s home, where Rayshawn sometimes stayed with his girlfriend, according to an affidavit.
That search turned up a box containing more than 9 pounds of crystal methamphetamine inside a car parked outside the home.
Agents say when they searched Rayshawn’s bedroom, they found more than $56,000 in shrink-wrapped cash, some of which had serial numbers of bills used in controlled drug purchases conducted by undercover agents.
A confiscated cell phone contained a picture of Rayshawn Hall posing with “a large amount” of U.S. currency, according to the affidavit.
Agents who interviewed Rayshawn’s father at the time of the search, say he had told his son not to deal drugs out of his home.
No arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Alfred Hall.
Rayshawn Hall is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment next week in U.S. District Court.
