190 middle school musicians prepare for Middle School Honor Band concert at YSU
Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music is set to host 190 middle school students for the second annual Middle School Honor Band concert.
Beginning January 10, the musicians all between 7th and 8th grade will begin rehearsals and instrument sectionals led by YSU faculty and guest directors.
These sessions are intended to hone the skills the musicians have and prepare them for the concert experience.
The rehearsals all lead up to the musicians performing two concerts on January 11.
The Red Band, conducted by YSU's Dr. Kate Ferguson, will begin at 1 p.m. while the White Band, led by Guest Director James Dowdy, will begin at 2:15 p.m.
The concerts will be held in the Ford Theatre of Bliss Hall on the YSU campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
Parking will be available in the Wick Avenue Deck for this event for a $5 fee payable in cash only.
