Former Harding standout athlete charged with involuntary manslaughter
A former standout athlete for Warren Harding High School has pleaded “not guilty” to charges of involuntary manslaughter and corrupting another with drugs.
Nysier Coleman was booked into the Trumbull County Jail Monday and arraigned in Warren Municipal Court on Tuesday.
Champion Police filed the charges in October for the crimes which allegedly took place on March 24, 2024.
According to the police report, the incident happened at a home on the 400 Block of Oak Hollow Drive where police found a 17-year-old girl lying on the bathroom floor with no pulse.
When searching the house further, police found the girl's book bag on a bed with a zip lock bag containing white pills inside. Tin foil with burn marks was also found indicating drug use.
Police spoke with the girl's boyfriend, who told officers a male had sold her heroin earlier in the night.
Coleman, 20, who graduated from Harding last year, played football for the school and was named as an All-American in basketball.
Another court hearing is scheduled for next week.
